They came out of Nixon's presidency.
They are the secret against sent to spy on the democrats at
Watergate. They are the Plumbers.
Actually they are a band consisting of
two MHS students and two sets of brothers.
They started out as two seperate bands.
Junior Sam Young and Junior Matt Karlsson were in a band along with
Kaiping Liu called Fat Lady Sings. Eventually they met up and merged
with another group. This invariably did not take too long because
this band was made up of Jonas Karlsson, brother of M. Karlsson, and
Jaiping Liu, brother of K. Liu. Together they became the
Plumbers.
The Plumbers are a group of talented
individuals. Four of the five members play two instruments each. K.
Liu and M. Karlsson play guitar and drums. Young plays bass and the
clarinet, and J. Karlsson plays bass and the trumpet.. J. Liu sings
lead vocals.
The Plumbers play all over the Bay
Area.
" We've played clubs in Berkeley,
Oakland, San Jose and other places," M. Karlsson said. "We also play
at a lot of teen centers."
The Plumbers have mainly performed at
the Cactus Club which is located in downtown San Jose.
All of the songs performed by the
Plumbers are also composed and written by the group. Everyone takes
an equal part in the creative songwriting process.
M. Karlsson has a firm dedication to
the Plumbers.
"I love the band with all of my heart,
and it is a big part of my life. I am serious about keeping it going,
and I hope we will," M. Karlsson said.
Young expressed a less enthusiastic
opinion.
"I am more committed to school than the
band. It is just a hobby right now," Young said.
M. Karlsson stressed the importance of
music in his life.
" I love music. As far as I know, my
goal in life is to play music and never stop. It is my life." M.
Karlsson said.
The band is presently working on lining
up several shows at various Bay Area venues. Their next show will be
held at the Red Morton Community Center in Redwood City. It will take
place on February 21.
A demo tape that the Plumbers have
recorded is currently avaliable for sale at all of their shows.
There are nine songs on the tape and it is being sold for four
dollars.
